Baby Moons –
In August, our babies have been enjoying lots of
exciting activities and experiences at nursery.
We have been exploring baking by helping to
pour and mix ingredients together to make
delicious mu>ins. This activity has supported
the development of our hand-eye coordination
and fine motor skills while allowing us to have
lots of fun. We have also been enjoying bubble
play, using our hands to reach out and pop the
bubbles, which has encouraged movement and
coordination. we have created our own sensory
bags filled with a variety of di>erent textures,
giving the babies opportunities to use their
hands to touch, feel and explore the di>erent
materials inside.
Teenie Moons- This month, we have been
having lots of fun exploring the wonderful world of
animals! We have been learning to recognise
di;erent animals and beginning to notice
di;erences in their size. We discovered that a tiger
is a big animal, while a mouse is much smaller.
Through these experiences, the children have
been developing their early numeracy skills, using
words such as big, small, bigger and smaller as
they compare and sort animals.
We have also taken our animal learning outdoors,
becoming little animal detectives in our garden!
We spotted a dog through the garden fence and
enjoyed watching and listening to birds as they
flew above our heads. These experiences
encouraged the children to observe their
surroundings, develop their vocabulary and talk
about what they could see and hear. We used
simple words and sounds linked to the animals,
supporting early literacy and communication
skills.
Mini Moons- In August the mini moons have
been focusing on developing their fine motor
grasps through a range of di;erent mark making,
threading, arts and crafts and water play using the
pipettes. The children have also been working on
their numeracy skills through our new number
book! As well as counting activities using loose
parts and number matching tu; trays.
The mini moons have also been exploring
measuring using the jugs and beakers in the water
tray, exploring comparing volumes.
Full Moons- During August, we explored a
range of exciting learning experiences. We
developed our understanding of measurement by
using di;erent resources, including rulers and
scales, to measure and compare objects. We also
supported our language development by learning
and using new vocabulary. We named di;erent
body parts and explored their roles and functions.
We have now begun an exciting new topic: Space!
We are exploring astronauts, planets, and the
wonders of our solar system, developing our
curiosity and understanding of the world beyond
Earth.
