Our Room Topics –
Baby Moons – This month, the babies were
introduced to some new sensory “feely tubs.”
We filled the tubs with a variety of different
materials, encouraging the children to explore
by placing their hands inside. As they
experienced the different textures, it led to lots
of surprised reactions and a wonderful range of
facial expressions.Through this activity, the
babies have begun to explore and understand
their emotions. These early experiences are
helping them recognise how they feel in
response to new sensations, and this is
something we will continue to support and
develop over time.
Teenie Moons- Within Teenie moons we
have been experimenting with colours and
shapes making beautiful rainbow collage
pictures using tissue paper and glue this was
also great for a fine motor skills activity. We
have also been exploring with shapes insert
puzzles and looking at the shapes and
identifying them by name. We have started to
look at healthy eating activities where we
looked at a wide variety of fruits and vegetables
a the discussion about healthy eating habits
and keeping our body healthy. Within the
garden we have been exploring with items that
sink or float, the children excitedly looked for
items in the garden to pop into the tub to see if
it floats or sink encouraging their thinking and
problem solving skills.
Mini Moons- This month mini moons have
been exploring the changes in the season as we
are in spring, exploring the garden and venturing
out to the woods to see the different flowers
and insects that we could find. This has
expanded into learning about bumble bees and
the importance they have within the outdoor
environment. We have also been continuing
our focus on counting and have been
developing this through counting quantities
activities, gaining an understanding that they
represent numbers.
The mini moons have also been learning about
our different emotions and what can make us
feel these ways, discussing our own feelings
and using the colour monsters to help us
express these.
Full Moons- this month in full moons we have
been looking at different insects and bugs. we
have been learning about them through outdoor
play and going on walks to discover different
kinds and learn vocabulary to describe them.
we have also been looking at the kinds of
habitats they live in and even made our very
own bug hotel in the garden and discussing how
we can look after the natural world. full moons
have also been looking at different textures and
how different materials feel, working on our
vocabulary to describe these too.
