NURSERY NEWS – June 2026

Our Room Topics –

Baby Moons –
This month, the babies have been learning about
colours. We have been using cellophane and
torches to explore different colours and talk about
what they can see. The children also enjoyed
water play with coloured water, where they
practiced pouring, exploring, and mixing di9erent
colours together. To make the activity even more
exciting, we added sea animals to the water for
the babies to discover and play with. The babies
showed great curiosity and enjoyed exploring
colours through sensory play.

Teenie Moons- This month is Teenie moons
we have been exploring with healthy eating. The
children had the opportunity to make fruit skewers
they have chosen two healthy fruits to use which
was bananas and apples. We have done tu9 tray
activities which we divided healthy and unhealthy
foods into groups. We have enjoyed outdoor
activities such as pretend picnics with teddy
bears. We are now moving onto our topic of
animals/insects which the children really enjoy.
we went on a bug hunt around the garden to find
ladybirds and centipedes.

With the warmer weather approaching can we
please ask parents to bring in a sunhat for their
child.

Mini Moons- This month the Mini moons have
been showing a big interest in insects! We have
been out on walks in the local community and on
the look out for bugs within our garden too. The
children have been learning about bugs that fly
and ones that don’t too.

We have continued to learn about our emotions
and how we can recognise how others are feeling
through using the colour monsters and reading
story books based on our feelings. The children
have also been exploring lots of water play out in
the garden, using lots of di9erent resources to
transport and pour with. Through this we have
been having discussions about measurements.
We have recently began to explore our di9erent
senses we have and have been using our sense of
smell to explore the di9erent smells we created
through mixing water with different scented tea
bags and spices!

Full Moons- We have been making the most of
the beautiful sunny weather and spending lots of
time outdoors in our garden. The children have
shown great curiosity about the natural world
around them, leading us to explore a variety of
bugs and mini beasts. Through observing,
discussing, and investigating insects, the children
have been developing their understanding of living
things and their habitats while building their
observation and communication skills.
We have also been focusing on road safety. To
support this learning, we added road signs to our
construction area, encouraging the children to
recognise familiar signs and think about how to
stay safe near roads. Through role play and
imaginative play, the children practiced stopping,
looking, listening, and talking about safe ways to
travel.
