Our Room Topics –
Baby Moons – This month, the babies have been exploring different fruits through sensory play. We sliced the fruits and placed them in water so the children could touch, smell, and taste them. They enjoyed feeling the different textures and discovering new smells and flavours. We also talked about the different colours of the fruits, which we will be exploring further in the coming month.
Teenie Moons- In January, Teenie Moons have been busy exploring the weather. We’ve loved splashing in muddy puddles and collecting rain in different pots and jugs in the garden. We’ve read lots of books about changes in the weather and created rainbow and raindrop pictures using materials like straws and cotton buds.
The children also enjoyed a variety of tuff tray activities, including squeezing citrus fruits in water to build hand strength and explore different smells - oranges were definitely the favourite!
Mini Moons- In January the mini moons have been focussing a lot on developing our fine motor skills and strengthening our grasps. We have been mark making with a range of different sized objects, such as pencils, paintbrushes and even painting with the cars. We have also been exploring with the playdough, moulding it into different shapes. The minis have also been learning about the different types of vehicles that we see on the roads and are beginning to learn about how we keep ourselves safe whilst in the car, such as wearing our seatbelts.
Full Moons- We have been enjoying lots of sensory play, encouraging the children to use their hands to feel and explore a variety of different textures. The children particularly loved our play dough and water play, where we introduced gentle different smells to spark interest and encourage them to talk about what they noticed. Using scents alongside touch helped support their sensory awareness and imaginative play. We also explored painting using our hands and fingers, allowing the children to express themselves freely while developing their fine motor skills. It was wonderful to see their creativity shine as they experimented with colours and movements.
