Our Room Topics –
Baby Moons – In babies, we have been practising our pouring and mixing whilst we have been making salt doh hand prints. We have also been developing our hand and eye coordination using the chalk to draw on the floor and painting pictures.
Teenie Moons- In Teenie moons we have been learning by about colours through many different activities such as drawing, painting and colour sorting. We have also been doing a lot of role play with the babies, having tea parties and changing their nappies.
Mini Moons- Our mini moons we have been continuing their learning of colour recognition, through colour matching and colour mixing activities. The children were excited coming into nursery telling others about the fireworks that they had seen. From this interest we created our own fireworks using straws and paint and enjoyed some fireworks themed tuff trays. Out in the garden the children built their own bonfire using the sticks and leaves they found.
Full Moons- In full moons, we have started talking about winter. The children were happy to play in the snow, we decided to take some snow inside the room and dye it using food colouring, that was so much fun. The children spotted some birds in the garden and asked if they could feed the birds so we went outside to put some seeds out and spoke of the importance of looking after the animals in the winter.
ASN Coordinators - This month we will start our kindness tree. The tree will help children see and understand what kindness looks like. It will help us encourage positive behaviour, support friendships and build children’s confidence by celebrating the kind things they do. When a practitioner sees a child being kind to another, they will get a snowflake to decorate and on the back we will write what that act of kindness was. These snowflakes will be added to the tree to show the lovely things are children do for each other.
