NURSERY NEWS – August 2026

Baby Moons –

In Babies, we have had lots of fun exploring
different tuff tray activities to help develop the
children's fine motor skills. We have also
enjoyed drawing with cars, which has been a
favorite activity for many of the children.
Some of the children have shown a real interest
in bird watching, so we have been spending time
looking for birds and talking about what we can
see.

Teenie Moons- This month, Teenie Moons
have been learning all about animals, the sounds
they make and the different environments they live
in. We have enjoyed exploring animal-themed tuff
trays, painting and creating different animals, as
well as using musical instruments to recreate
animal sounds. We have also explored our garden,
looking for insects and discovering the different
places they might live.

Mini Moons- In July the Mini moons have been
exploring the different textures we have in the
environment. We have explored di7erent messy
plays both indoors and outdoors and did a feelings
activity where they couldn’t see the object that
was in the bag, leading them to use their
imagination and problem solving skills to figure
out what the item was.

We have also been learning about how to keep
ourselves safe in the sunny weather. The children
took part in a beach focussed activity where they
discussed how to stay safe and role played using
the goggles, pool noodle and arm bands.

Full Moons- During July, the children in Full
Moon Room enjoyed learning about Scotland and
some of its traditions. This topic developed from
the children's curiosity about Nessie, the famous
Loch Ness Monster. They explored where Loch
Ness is located, learned about Scotland's
landscape, discussed Scottish traditions, and
talked about some of the country's famous
landmarks, symbols, and culture. The children
enjoyed sharing their own ideas and asking
questions, helping to develop their understanding
of the world around them.
