Our Room Topics –
Baby Moons – This month in Baby Moons, have been enjoying our new animal book about the farm. We have been learning about the animals on the farm and the different sounds they make. We have also been making animal tuff trays for the children to enjoy
Teenie Moons- In November , We continued on with our textural activities which the children loved exploring with different textures and materials. Using our sense of smell we created activities with different smells for the children like mint and different herbs to try guess what each item was. 10 little pumpkins on the wall was our favourite Halloween song to sing. Outdoors we have been exploring with the water wall - using leaves as a “marble” and the pipes as the “marble run” to see who’s leaf won. We discovered a new favourite game outdoors of hide and seek. We enjoyed our first book bug session at Westhill library. We also joined in with the pumpkin hunt around the library to successfully find all 5 little pumpkins.
Mini Moons- Mini moons have been focussing on the seasons and have been exploring the changes in our outdoor environment. We explored the different leaves and colours in the garden and in the local woods! The minis have done lots of Halloween arts and crafts, creating their own pumpkins, ghosts and spider webs through painting, gluing and sticking! The children also created the artwork for the local community Halloween hunt!
Full Moons- This month in Full Moons, the children have been continuing their learning about all the wonderful changes that happen in Autumn. They’ve been busy exploring the season through hands-on experiences, making their very own rain catchers and using them to measure how much rain we’ve had. This has been a great opportunity to practise their early number recognition and begin thinking about measurement in a fun, meaningful way. Our Autumn leaves have inspired all sorts of creativity. The children have enjoyed gluing and sticking, painting and printing, and even counting with the leaves they collected.
We also had lots of fun carving pumpkins, and the learning didn’t stop there, we used the pumpkin seeds in our playdough and counting activities, turning a seasonal favourite into another exciting opportunity to learn through play.
